BAH Rates 2010

For those of you who don’t know what BAH is (i think that’s only a few at this point), it’s the housing allowance.  They split the amount between 2 paychecks and it covers whatever you want it to.  For instance, our rent in our crappy (see: I HATE THIS PLACE) 1 bedroom apartment is $460/month.  Our current BAH rate for 2010 is $885.  Next year it will be $930 which is a decent bump for the place.  The housing situation is a little dire to say the least.  I can’t wait until we move to base…. can’t frickin’ wait.  Downside to moving to base, we won’t be making the $885/month (or $930) by the time we move in.  The only things we pay for here are an electricity bill that is somewhere along the lines of 20 bucks and an internet bill that is about $100.  On the plus side, it won’t cost us nearly as much in fuel to live on base, we’ll just have to pay for internet and cable.

It’s a sad thing to think that our BAH money is going to be gone by moving onto base but I really want my dog up here.  If you’re new… she’s at my mom’s house 16 hours from here.  She’s almost 5 years old and she’s my baby.  I want her back and there are no rentals in this town that allow for pets unless you’re willing to drop down a $1000 security deposit.
