The Game Changer & Housing fun.

I’ve been off my game ever since the holidays.  I’m not sure if it has something to do with the sunrise/sunset schedule around here, my annoyance at the job I’m about to start, or just missing the holidays.  My witty/sarcastic nature has disappeared and been replaced by someone who is repeatedly losing their cool publicly and privately and I’m getting a little punchy.  Not physical punchy but snarky punchy.  For instance, if you were to change your facebook and your husband posts something on there about how he’s been cheating on you for years… I’m interested in commenting and calling you both idiots.

Just for the record, I didn’t.  I also didn’t internet confront a threat-booking instance that involves 30 year old  immature military wives with their nose so high in the air that those of us who are naturally 5′ tall actually drop below their radar because they can’t see us.  I only lost it publicly on my own status update.

Yah, like I said, totally getting punchy.

Anyway onto better things and some informative info for the newbs.  The housing here at Why Not? (Yes, that is what I’m officially calling it now) is not privatized.  The difference from what I can gather is that in privatized housing you still receive a BAH and then you pay it to their office and then pay for electricity/gas/whatever.  Like I said, I’m not sure how this works since I don’t know anything about it and don’t deal with it.  Which means that if you’re both military, you get to keep some of your BAH.  Anyway, when you move to a new base and you can’t get onto base right away and have to get a temporary apartment and then get base housing, you can opt to DITY move again.  Now, if you haven’t figured out yet… and you should remember this, DITY = Money.  Some people DITY, some people don’t.  I don’t have small children, crazy heavy appliances, or even the need to help most of the time.  I’ve got people for that, lol.  They cost beer and pizza.  If you’re super worried about the whole DITY thing then do a partial DITY.  You’re going to be moving some of your possessions anyway, at least get credit for the 300+ lbs you’ll be packing into your car (and then save all your receipts).  Anyway, we’re looking at getting at least $1000 bucks for moving ourselves 15 miles.  I’m totally not kidding, I could just let the AF do it but I’m greedy.  We also get a partial DLA which is super awesome.  We’re also getting a free washer/dryer… but the AF definitely didn’t give us that.  We have some friends who got a set with their home purchase and had a set already.  We just have to move it and buy a new silver hosey thing.  Totally awesome.

Anyway, I apologize for the next 4 weeks or so I’ve got a lot going on and stress and I are not the best of friends (obviously).  My little brother is about to have a baby, I have to go back home to get my dog, and I start my new (quite possibly unorganized job) on Tuesday, moving on Wednesday, and unpacking for the next 2-3 weeks.  Oh and I’m also babysitting and house cleaning as side jobs.  This could get really interesting, lol.

  1. My level of snarky is directly related to my stress levels. I had a blog comment the other day that came across as haughty, condescending, and rude all in just a few sentences. It was all I could do not to start a blog war, but, oh, I totally wanted to!So, here's to both of us for keeping our cool! *clinks beer stein*

  2. Oh my goodness. Ive been through so much these last few days. I would like to tell you about it more, but I am super busy. When I get a moment, I would like to tell you about it. Your previosu blogs have helped me alot with the things I have been going through in this AF! Talk to you soon! =)
